Byron Nelson report: What happened at Trinity Forest Golf Club?

South Korea’s Sung Kang won his first PGA Tour event with a 2-shot victory over Matt Every and Scott Piercy.

The 31-year-old made the most of his 54-hole lead by shooting 4-under-par on Sunday to win convincingly in his 159th PGA Tour appearance.

Having set himself up nicely for the weekend with an astonishing round of 61 on Friday, his weekend golf, particularly Sunday’s did not disappoint.

With three birdies on the front-nine, Kang looked in control of his game throughout and emphasised his capability to lead the way with three consecutive birdies in the middle of his back-nine.

Kang had already been entered into next week’s major – the PGA Championship – thanks to a withdrawal, but this win will act as a huge confidence booster, for sure.

Furthermore, the victory will see him tee it up at next year’s Players Championship and the Masters as well as pocketing a cool $1.4 million.
