AT&T Byron Nelson leaderboard 2018:
Report
After a four-hour weather delay, it was Aaron Wise who broke away from the pack and cruised to victory at the AT&T Byron Nelson at Trinity Forest in Texas.
At just 21-years-old, Wise started the day tied with the vastly experienced Aussie, Marc Leishman.
In the circumstances, many would have crumbled. But the South African-born Wise quickly showed that this wouldn’t be the case.
He opened his birdie count at the fourth, and then went on to birdie five, seven, eight and nine to go out in a sublime 31.
He opened up a four-shot lead, and it was then just a case of keeping composed and holding on.
When Leishman failed to birdie the par-5 14th and bogeyed the 15th, it was then clear that it was to be the brilliant youngster’s day.
Throughout the round, and indeed the tournament, Wise excelled in all departments. On this performance, he ought to be taken very seriously. Leishman will attest to that.
