Arnold Palmer Invitational betting tips, TV times and preview

The Arnold Palmer Invitational is the second of three ‘elevated status events’ of the season on the PGA Tour and once again a stellar field is in place to take on Bay Hill.

Francesco Molinari is back to defend his title but after a disappointing year on the course he is priced up at 90/1 which is highly unusual for a defending champion, particularly one of Molinari’s talent. Those odds are unfortunately justified and Mark Townsend has taken a look at what went wrong for the 2018 Open champion prior to this point.

Arnold Palmer Invitational betting tips: Who to back each-way

Tyrrell Hatton (55/1 with bet365) was tipped a couple of weeks ago at the WGC-Mexico where he made his 2020 debut after a lay-off with a wrist injury. He finished tied 6th and was thoroughly impressive considering his lack of competition.

He skipped the Honda Classic which looks a wise decision and he returns to Bay Hill having had some decent success here in the past three seasons. He was inside the top 30 last year but his best came in 2017 when recording a top 5.

Hatton should be feeling positive after his season-opener and at a fairly large price he looks a leading each-way choice.

Carlos Ortiz (140/1) looks good for a small each-way stake and has performed fairly well on both of his starts in this event.

The Mexican was 29th last year and 21st back in 2015 and his recent form also reads well – T16-T26-T25. Earlier in the season he had top 5s at at the Houston Open and Mayakoba Classic and is now no stranger to a late tee time on Sunday.

Ortiz is ranked 25th in Strokes Gained Tee to Green this season, has established himself inside the world’s top 50 and is capable of finding that extra gear this week.
