Ali Taylor: How to start the downswing correctlyDecember 14, 2016 Golf Tips
Pro Ali Taylor visits the shack to tell us all about the correct way to start a down swing.
Ali Taylor is a PGA Professional based at Lytham Golf Academy, and coaches at St Anne’s Old Links.
He joined our Pro down at the Shack to talk about the best ways to help start your downswing correctly.
The problem I see with a lot of guys is they get to the top of the swing and then their only thought is to turn their hips out of the way.
As they turn their hips, their path goes way over the top, the bottom of the swing is in a different place and all of the good work spent working on the back swing becomes irrelevant.
After a discussion with the Pro Ali gives us his three key points to help to start the downswing correctly.
1- Push from the ground
2- Allow left hip to move towards target
3- Gets hips turning
