Sweden’s Alex Noren held his nerve down the stretch to close out a superb victory at the British Masters – his third win in eight starts.
He used the same Callaway XR16 Sub Zero driver as in his victories at the Scottish Open and European Masters.
The driver is Callaway’s low-spinning version of the XR16 and is also used by Phil Mickelson.
There were also Callaway Apex Irons, Mack Daddy wedges, Odyssey putter in his bag along with the Callaway Chrome Soft ball.
He held a three-shot lead going into the final round at the Grove and after a shaky start finished the job with birdies at the par-5 15th and 18th to reach -18 and beat Bernd Wiesberger by two shots. Lee Westwood was in third a further shot back.
Noren said: “It’s very unreal. I never thought about this going into this season. I just worked quite hard and sometimes you get lucky like this. You have to hit the right shots at the right times and I’m very happy.
“I believe in myself, but the big thing is you don’t have to play a perfect game. Just a few parts of your game need to be strong to get a win and I try to stay humble. I know golf is a tough game.”
What’s in Alex Noren’s bag?
