Equipment: What’s in Alex Noren’s Omega European Masters-winning bag?
Sweden’s Alex Noren carded his second European Tour win of the season at the Omega European Masters using a full bag of Callaway equipment – including the Chrome Soft ball.
The 34-year-old was tied with Australia’s Scott Hend on -18 after 72 holes but made a birdie on the first extra hole to clinch his sixth European Tour win.
It followed on from his victory at the Scottish Open earlier this year and takes up up to eighth place in the Race Dubai and cements his place in the world’s top 50.
Just like with his win at Castle Stuart, Noren relied on the Callaway XR16 Sub Zero driver – a super low-spinning version of the popular model.
The Callaway Apex hybrid (18˚) and Apex Pro irons (4-9) ensured his approach play was solid with four Mack Daddy 2 wedges getting the job done around the greens.
An Odyssey Works putter in the #1 headshape completed the set – the same gear he used to triumph at the Scottish Open.
“I’ve worked hard this season,” Noren said
“I tried to play more golf and I feel steadier with my driver. My driver hasn’t been my good side but now it is steadier. I’ve never won coming from behind or won in a play-off on the European Tour so that makes it more amazing.”
