The AIG Women's Open will host a concert from a BRIT award-winning artist and many more fun fan experiences at Walton Heath later this year

The AIG Women’s Open has announced a number of exciting new features at this year’s championship to attract a larger audience to the event.

BRIT award-winning artist Ellie Goulding will headline a concert after the third round at Walton Heath, showcasing live music for the first time at the major.

“I’m honoured to be the first music artist to perform at the AIG Women’s Open,” Goulding said. “The elevation of women’s sport is something I’m a huge champion of, so I can’t wait to be surrounded by inspiring women in August. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!”

As well as attracting fans with live music, the AIG Women’s Open will debut a new-look festival village featuring a Golf It! Zone, virtual reality and e-sports golf activities, a new food and beverage offering, and big screens to watch the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Research commissioned by the R&A found that two-thirds of golf fans are interested in live music and entertainment at women’s golf championships. This has come to fruition with this stellar list of exciting initiatives.

“We and our valued partners in AIG have been clear that our ambition is to elevate the AIG Women’s Open as a world-class sporting event,” R&A CEO Martin Slumbers said.

“We have made important strides in recent years to enhance prize money, championship venues, and facilities for the benefit of the world’s best women’s golfers, but we also see the spectator experience as crucial to increasing the appeal of the Championship and encouraging more fans to attend.”

Not only can fans enjoy a new off-course experience, but they will watch the best players in the world tee it up in Surrey in pursuit of the coveted Open trophy.

Lydia Ko, Nelly Korda, and Lexi Thompson have already confirmed their spots in the field to compete against past champions such as Ashleigh Buhai, Anna Nordqvist, and Georgia Hall.

Adult tickets for the Women’s British Open, which will take place from August 10-13 at the historic Surrey course, are available from £20, while the concert day is priced at £55 per ticket. More information can be found on the AIG Women’s Open website.
