There's a new event on the PGA Tour this week. Our tipster has taken a look at the field and tried to find a winner
We’ll get to my 3M Open betting tips in a moment, but first…
The details
Date: July 4-7, 2019
Course stats: Par 71, 7,450 yards
Course summary: Designed by Palmer, TPC Twin Cities looks at first glance that this track may well see lots of low-scoring similar to last week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.
There are some plenty water hazards around, but generally this is a pretty flat and straightforward design, which shouldn’t be too much of an issue for the longer players.
Purse: €6,400,000
Defending champion: This is a new event on the PGA Tour so there is no defending champion this year.
TV coverage
Thursday:
Sky Sports Golf Red Button – Featured groups, 12pm
Sky Sports Golf, 6.30pm, Sky Sports Main Event, 9.30pm
Friday:
Sky Sports Golf Red Button – Featured groups, 12pm
Sky Sports Golf, 6.30pm, Sky Sports Main Event, 10.15pm
Saturday: Sky Sports Golf, 6pm
Sunday: Sky Sports Golf, 6pm, Sky Sports Main Event, 6.30pm
It looks to be another fairly tough week for betting on the PGA Tour. The course being new to all players means that there will be no course form but this doesn’t spell the end for our hopes of a winning bet.

3M Open betting: Joe’s outside picks
The setup will favour those who can bomb it off the tee and this makes Wyndham Clark (110/1) a rather intriguing and the most attractive punt of all for me.
That price seems fairly big considering he is ranked 7th in driving distance this season and he’s managed to find some good form over the last few weeks to arrest a series of missed cuts.
He finished in a tie for 15th at the Travelers and followed that up with a tied 17th at last week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic. A top 10 at the Honda Classic earlier this year, which some have been comparing to their expectations of this week’s event is also a good sign.
He seems to be enjoying his golf again, so let’s hope he can maintain that.
I’m also drawn to JJ Spaun (80/1).
The American has been showing signs of improvement in recent weeks, with the exception of a missed cut at the Memorial.
His three most recent finishes read T44, T30 and T13, and I don’t see any reason why he can’t continue that trend and finish in the places this week.
This season on the PGA Tour, Spaun ranks 13th in the back-nine scoring stats, and with low scoring expected, this could be a very relevant observation.
The 28-year-old is yet to get over the line on the PGA Tour but with the opportunity to play in a brand new event, on course unknown to most, he has as good of a chance as any.
