The Northern Irishman dropped to T5 last year after he put himself in contention following a fantastic third round of 65.
Despite his Sunday struggles his Augusta record is phenomenal. In the last five years he’s recorded top 10 finishes and with the putter red hot, it’s hard to ignore him when choosing3 your fantasy picks this week.
A player who looks like he’s coming in to form at the right time is Louis Oosthuizen who also has a fairly consistent record at Augusta National.
Oosthuizen had a fantastic week at the Valspar Championship just a few weeks ago where he finished in a tie for second place and just one shot off winner Paul Casey. He also backed that up with an impressive run at the WGC-Match Play where he made it through to the quarter finals.
The South African’s lowest finish in his last five starts at Augusta was a T41 in 2017 despite carding rounds of 77 and 76. His other four starts in that period saw him record top 20 finishes, however, he has failed to creep into the top 10.
Marc Leishman has a mixed record at Augusta but when he makes the cut he finishes well. In his last five starts there he has two top 10s, a T43 and two missed cuts.
The Australian’s form is questionable as he goes in search of his first major crown but a recent T23 at The Players and a T4 at the Genesis Open are enough for me to think that is ready for the challenge.
The odds are against Henrik Stenson in the fact that a 40 year-old hasn’t pulled on a green jacket on since Mark O’Meara’s victory in 1998.
The 43 year-old showed glimpses that his game is heading in the right direct in Austin when he put on a ball striking clinic to brush a side Jim Furyk and advance out of the group stage and he also recorded two top 25 finishes in the three weeks leading up to the WGC-Match Play.
The Swede is currently on a good run of form at Augusta with just one missed cut in his last five visits and the rest being top 25 including an impressive T5 last year.
Fellow European Ian Poulter hasn’t missed a cut at The Masters since 2013 and last year made it to Augusta after beating Beau Hossler in a play-off at the Houston Open.
The Englishman struggled to a T44, maybe fatigue played a part after the mental challenge of the week before but this year he as been able to take a week off prior to the first major to recharge the batteries.
Branden Grace is another player who has mixed form at Augusta with three missed cuts in his six starts but in his last two he has recorded two top 30s.
There were signs that Grace was starting to play good golf again at the WGC-Match Play after he advanced from a group containing Duastin Johnson, Hideki Matsuyama and Chez Reavie before getting knocked out to Sergio Garcia.

Matthew has been playing golf since he was around 13 and took up the game at a local nine-hole municipal course with his friends before joining Pontefract & District Golf Club just over the hedge.
Still a member of Pontefract with a handicap of 3, he currently sits on the board of directors to help with digital and marketing initiatives in order to improve membership and visitor income.

Not one to change his equipment too often, Matthew currently plays the TaylorMade M2 driver which has lasted the test of time in his bag. Elsewhere, you’ll find him using the TaylorMade Stealth 2 three-wood with a Ping G425 Crossover 2-iron to aid his long game.
Through his 4-iron to Gap Wedge, Matthew uses the Ping i500 irons accompanied by Ping’s Glide 3.0 56-degree and 60-degree wedges.
Another club that has stood the test of time in his bag is a Nike Method Core MC-3i putter which has had to have the SuperStroke grip changed at least three times. Ball of choice is the Titleist ProV1.
