When is the… 2018 Players Championship?
The 2018 Players Championship is 45th instalment of the event. It is often referred to as the ‘fifth’ major due to the high class in the field, it’s built up reputation since it’s inaugural tournament in 1974 and the high payout on offer.

A brief history of the Players Championship
The Players Championship as been ever present on the PGA Tour calendar since the first tournament when it was originally known as the Tournament Players Championship.
The top 50 players are guaranteed a place at the tournament.
Did you know…
The tournament used to be played in the weeks leading up to the Masters before being moved to May. It will be moved again next year due to the PGA Championship being moved to May.
Greg Norman holds the scoring record at the tournament with a aggregate score of 264 which is 24 under par.
Where is the 2018 PGA Championship?
The tournament is played at TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course in Florida, home to the famous island green 17th hole. The tournament is played on the Stadium Course every year.
However, it hasn’t always been played on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. Prior to the Stadium Courses’ first event the tournament was played at Sawgrass Country Club five times. Inverrary Country Club, Colonial Country Club and Atlanta Country have all hosted the tournament once.
When is the 2018 Players Championship?
This years tournament will be played between the 10th and 13th May with a whopping $1.89 million on offer to the winner.
Who is the defending champion?
Si Woo Kim won the Players Championship in 2017 with a score of 10 under par (278). By winning the tournament he became the youngest player to do so at the age of 21 years old.
