A James Braid designed course, Irvine is a really fun and quirky golf course. Its great strength is perhaps the variety of the holes – quirky in places and very solid in others.
There may be as many as a dozen courses within a 10-mile radius that are more famous, but few can rival Kilmarnock's rich history or the quality of its carpet-like greens.
