Luton Hoo Overview | NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts

Ryder Cup Venue?

Golf has been a major part of the history of Luton Hoo, with the estate’s original 9-hole course dating back to the Victorian era. Now, there is an 18-hole Championship course which has played host to the Jamega Tour, PGA EuroPro Tour and the European Challenge Tour in recent years.

The Par 71, 7,100-yard course is a harmonious blend of inland links and mature parkland, offering picturesque tee shots and plenty of water. There has been talks of the venue playing host to the first Ryder Cup in the 2030s, with owner Surinder Arora aiming to bring the best Ryder Cup ever to Luton Hoo.

The 4th is a short par 3 over water, while the 8th is the longest hole on the property, measuring more than 550 yards from the back tees. It is also the hardest on the front nine, playing across water from the tee shot. The par 3 13th is the hardest hole at Luton Hoo. It’s not often you see a short hole as the hardest hole, but you can understand why here. The 13th is 270 yards from the back tees, and still more than 245 yards from the standard yellow tees. It’s a full driver for most and even then, some amateurs won’t reach the green with their first shot.
