Cameron House | NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts

Cameron House is on the shores of Loch Lomond, providing golfers and guests with relaxing views of the water. There is the championship Carrick Course and the Wee Demon Course for the golfers, while the resort itself plays host to glorious accommodation and a range of thrilling activities for guests to enjoy.

Following a fire in 2017, Cameron House was closed while a careful restoration project brought the hotel back to its former glory. After more than three years, the Cameron House Hotel was reopened, following the end of lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Carrick Course is the championship offering at Cameron House and has played host to the Ladies European Tour in the past. It was the host venue for the Ladies’ Scottish Open in both 2007 and 2008 and is still a tricky test along the banks of Loch Lomond to this day. The Wee Demon is the 9-hole course at Cameron House and provides a wonderful place for beginners to get into the game and to learn about all the on-course nuances.

Away from the golf, there is still plenty to do at Cameron House. On land, there are walks and hikes, 4x4 adventures and clay pigeon shooting to name just a few, while jet skiing and speedboat trips are among the water-based activities. The Loch Lomond Sea Planes give the perfect opportunity for guests to see Scotland from above on a three-hour journey. Guests can also enjoy the Cameron Spa, with a range of pools, saunas, steam rooms and both massages and treatments on offer.

Cameron House Overview | NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts

Cameron Golf Club

Cameron House plays host to the Cameron Golf Club. The club has two courses, with the 18-hole Carrick being the championship offering at the Scottish resort. The 9-hole Wee Demon is the perfect place for beginners to get to grips with being out on the golf course.

Doug Carrick was the man behind the design, and the course continue to hold his name. The Carrick Course has held several professional tournaments, including the Ladies’ Scottish Open. It hosted the Ladies European Tour event in both 2007 and 2008, with Sophie Gustafson and Gwladys Nocera being victorious around The Carrick.

Golfers will enjoy views of Loch Lomond during a round on The Carrick, which is more than 7,000 yards long from the back tees. The par 71 layout also has four other teeing options to allow amateurs to have an enjoyable experience while playing the championship course at Cameron House.

The low side of the course is the front nine, with the back nine taking you to higher ground. The par 3 14th is the signature hole on the Carrick. It says 200 yards on the card but plays downhill from an elevated tee. The elevation change from tee to green is 60 feet and plays havoc on which club to choose.

Meanwhile, the Wee Demon is a suitable place for those who are just getting into the game to learn the nuances of course management. The 9-hole layout has plenty of sand and water hazards to keep you on your toes.
