Once upon a time Tandridge boasted over 300 bunkers, which gives you an idea of the legendary Harry Colt’s attention to detail when designing courses. Now, following a major upgrade over recent years to reinstate the Colt principles, there are still plenty which provide challenge, strategy and architectural splendour. Like so many of the great Surrey layouts, Tandridge benefits from firm, springy fairways that make it playable throughout the winter, fast-running in the summer and a delight to hit irons from at any time of the year. From its elevated position not only can you enjoy views across the North Surrey Downs but also into nearby Sussex and Kent.
This is the most easterly of the best-known Surrey courses, and although just a few miles from Junction 6 of the M25, a thoroughly peaceful spot.
From the back tees it measures a shade over 6,500 yards but a variety of tee placements mean it is enjoyable for all. There are two quite distinct loops of nine which offer the golfer a complete contrast with something new on offer from every tee.
The holes on the front nine are strategic with some demanding doglegs while the more undulating back nine offers thrilling twists and turns along with views that are spectacular and panoramic.
Just five minutes from the M25, the traditional, cosy and beautifully appointed clubhouse is home to mouthwatering catering that keeps visitors coming back for more.

This dogleg starts with a nerve-wracking tee shot through a narrow shute of trees before sweeping majestically round to the right. There is relief on reaching the two-tier green – although this can test the finest of putters.
13th 223 yards, par 3
A cracking one-shotter with a stand of pines to the left, bunkers galore, a steep bank down to the right and glorious views back towards the clubhouse.
14th 477 yards, par 4
This is the club’s signature hole and is played from an extremely elevated tee to a picturesque valley way below. Crossing a burn, there is a gentle climb up the other side to a green beyond a cluster of cross bunkers.
