A jewel on industrial Teesside, Seaton Carew has hosted many R&A and EGU events over its long and illustrious history. One of Britain's finest links, it staged the Carris Trophy in 1996 when Hartlepool's Graeme Storm - later to win the British Amateur Championship - beat Justin Rose. Seaton Carew has five different course layouts using different combinations of its 22 holes - the most challenging being the par-73 Brabazon that stretches almost 7,000 yards.
Donald Steel noted in 'Classic Golf Links of Great Britain & Ireland' that "a slender strip of undulating ground houses a rare challenge that deserves close scrutiny."

The outstanding hole is the Alister MacKenzie-designed 17th with its title of 'Snag' definitely an understatement. The green is an elusive target and rises at various levels to a proud position that defies all except the bravest and the best.
