Santander

Santander

This course was established by the banking group to provide their staff with a high-calibre course.

It was laid out by American Rees Jones with input from Seve Ballesteros on what was once a rubbish dump.

Principal architect Jones moved a huge amount of earth to create the course, which is challenging as befits one of Spain's longest tracks.

It opened in 2005 and its six tees in each hole make it playable for all standards, even if it is a fearsome test off the backs.

A lake, streams and bunkers provide regular hazards while the conditioning is exceptionally good.

The short holes are characterised by water hazards while the par 5s will require two hefty blows to reach unless you are playing off ill-suited tees.

There is an open feel to it and you will rarely lose a ball other than in water, but make no mistake this is a challenging experience.
