La Bagnaia | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

La Bagnaia is one of the leading Italian venues on the NCG Top 100 European Golf Resorts list, with the resort being located in the region of Tuscany. Set among the rolling hills of the region, the course blends beautifully into the landscape, with some of the buildings dating back to the 12th Century.

World renowned golf design architect Robert Trent Jones Jr was the man behind this prestigious project at La Bagnaia. His design saw the course set out as an inland links course, and he has made the most of the five lakes that are on the property. Those water hazards come into play on the majority of holes on the course, making the golfer make the choice between playing it safe and risking it all.

As well as the golf course, La Bagnaia is also the home to a stunning practice facility, from which the La Bagnaia Golf Academy runs out of. The practice facilities include a full-size driving range with 60 bays, played off grass tees. There is also a specialised short game area, 90 yards long, for golfers to practise their pitching, chipping and bunker play.

Away from the course, the resort’s accommodation lends itself to its surroundings, with a number of the buildings used as accommodation having been around for centuries. Borgo Bagnaia offers a range of different rooms, including staying in a 12th Century church. To go back in time, but to also play a stunning golf course - La Bagnaia gives you that perfect mixture.

La Bagnaia Overview | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

Royal Golf La Bagnaia

Royal Golf La Bagnaia, to use its proper name, is a classic design from world-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. Thanks to this stunning golf course, which blends into the Tuscan hills sublimely, La Bagnaia has become one of the best golfing resorts in the country.

Jones’ plan for the golf course was to use the five glorious lakes on the property. And the American did that brilliantly. The majority of the feature holes at Royal Golf La Bagnaia feature one of those five lakes.

The first proper sighting of water comes at the 3rd hole, with the par-5 making its way round to the left, following the curvature of the water. The 4th also follows a similar path, but is a shorter par-4.

The 13th is almost the exact opposite of the 3rd. This par-5, measuring at more than 550 yards from the tips, is a double dog-leg right around a lake. The big hitters could go for it in two, but a carry of at least 200-220 yards will be required on the approach. The par-5 18th is a stunning finishing hole, which winds its way uphill back towards the clubhouse.

La Bagnaia Golf Academy

The Royal Golf La Bagnaia Golf Academy has premium practice facilities for golfers of all abilities. There is a spacious full size driving range that has 60 uncovered stations and extends over a length of 300 metres, designed with target greens and bunkers.
