Carya Overview | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

18 Stunning Holes

The 18-hole championship level course at Carya is the first classic heathland style golf course to be built on the Mediterranean coast in the Belek region. Set on the undulating sandy hills, Carya is a stunning venue which measures at over 7,200 yards.

The course winds through the heather and the pine trees, making it a demanding test of golfing strategy. Carya has been inspired by the traditional English heathlands courses of Wentworth, Sunningdale and The Berkshire, with a five-time winner of the Open Championship - Peter Thompson - being the man behind the design.

The construction of the Carya Golf Course involved planting close to a million heather plants. Grown in an extensive nursery on site, Carya’s heather shapes define the course into a truly magnificent spectacle. The course is a demanding test of golfing strategy, with free flowing holes that run between pine and eucalyptus trees and across a dramatic sand ridge.

It achieved its championship status in 2016, when it became the second course to host the Turkish Airlines Open. The event became part of the DP World Tour's Rolex Series during its time at Carya, where both Thorbjorn Olesen and Justin Rose were victorious, the latter winning it two years in succession.

Floodlit Golf

Carya made golfing history in Europe, when it became the first floodlit golf club on the continent. This means that the golfing day does not need to end at sunset at Carya.

Thanks to the floodlights, golfers can now enjoy playing golf in the cool evening conditions of the Mediterranean. With lighting up to 250 Lux, and with floodlights provided from 36 metres above the ground, all of Carya’s 18 incredible holes can now be played well into the night.
