Hollins Hall Overview | NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts

McMurray’s Championship Design

The golf course at Hollins Hall opened just before the turn of the millennium, and the layout is the handiwork of Ross McMurray of European Golf Design. There are two contrasting nines, and the greens are up to USGA-specification. The Par 71 layout is more than 6,600 yards from the back tees, but there is a range of teeing options to make the course enjoyable for golfers of all abilities.

The course opens with a pair of gentle par 4s, before the long par 5 3rd. It is the first of the three par 5s at Hollins Hall and it is also the longest hole on the property. There are four bunkers dotted down the fairway, while a small water hazard sits to the front left of the green. 5 and 6 are both par 4s of more than 420 yards in length, with the latter also featuring a small pond, while the 9th is the hardest hole on the course. The closer on the front side is almost 475 yards from the tips and plays as a testing par 4.

The 10th is the last par 5 on the course and opens the back nine with some ease. 13 and 15 are the two par 3s on the closing nine, with the latter of those being the shortest hole on the property at less than 160 yards long. The closing stretch at Hollins Hall is made up of three par 4s, all of which are less than 400 yards and offer up late birdie opportunities.
