Greenburn Golf Club

Course Information

Situated within 20 miles of both Glasgow and Edinburgh, Greenburn has been on its present site for 50 years.

The club was built by its members, and the club motto – “Per Nostra Opera”, meaning “By our own endeavours” – epitomises what Greenburn is all about.

A well-stocked pro shop and lessons for players of all standards are available, but the main attraction at Greenburn is the 6,067-yard, par-71 championship course.

A testing mix of parkland and moorland, the layout begins with a pair of short par-fours, neither of which exceed 300 yards. However, a 536-yard par-five at the fourth ensures that you don’t get too comfortable before you reach the fifth – the toughest hole on the front nine.

Known as “The Pond”, this 436-yard par-four is one of the most guarded on the course. An out of bounds stretch on the right and a pond on the left will catch any wayward approach shots, while the wind makes club selection very tricky when playing to the elevated green.

The back nine starts in similarly testing fashion. A long par-three with a blind tee shot awaits at the tenth, while the 12th is the most challenging hole on the course.

Measuring 458 yards, “Race Track” is a long par-four, although five is generally recognised as a decent score. A straight, long drive is required to reach the flat of the fairway, while the approach shot is longer than the yardage suggests due to the elevated fairway and green.

Golf aside, the venue boasts a conference hall that can cater for events of up to 120 people, making it the perfect location for a wedding, birthday party or society day.

Greenburn is situated close to the M8 corridor and lies a reasonable distance from all locations on the central belt.
