Course Information

Located in the premium residential community of Sotogrande, 30 minutes west of Marbella, this is one of Spain’s strongest modern courses.

The community of Sotogrande occupies 20km2, stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to the foothills of the Sierra Almenara, and boasts yachting, sail racing, water sports, tennis, international polo among its attractions – but golf is arguably the main one.

There are five championship courses in the area, including some of the most declared the names in European golf, but La Reserva can holds it own with even the prestigious elite.

It was designed by Cabell B Robinson, an American with a very impressive Iberian legacy, and is nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the densely wooded Andalusian hills.

Robinson, as he has done elsewhere in southern Spain, impressively worked a site with distinct elevation change to use the terrain to his advantage.

La Reserva is especially renowned for its expansive views but it is also notable for offering a playable challenge.

Robinson, as he has done elsewhere in southern Spain, impressively worked a site with distinct elevation change to use the terrain to his advantage.

He has minimised the ardour of uphill holes while maximising the glory of elevated tee shots and approaches to infinity greens.

Under new ownership, it is now in as immaculate condition as its neighbour Valderrama.
