La Moraleja (No.4)

La Moraleja (No.4)

This golf club was founded in 1973 by Cesar de Zulueta, Antonio Garcia and 10 other investors with the aim of creating courses for the 6,000 members of its sporting club to enjoy.

The following year land was acquired for La Moraleja No.1 and Jack Nicklaus was engaged to lay out the original course.

It opened in 1975 and six years later hosted the Johnnie Walker Classic. In 1986 the Spanish Open was hosted there.

No.2 followed in 1989 and was laid out by Nicklaus' associate Ron Kirby. It hosted the 1990 World Cup and the 2006 Madrid Open.

Some 37 years after the original course opened at La Moraleja, work began on two new courses - No.3 and No.4.

No.4 is by Nicklaus Design and opened in April 2013. It is much shorter than No.3 though, at 'only' 7,000 yards off the very tips.

Lakes are frequently in play and the multiple tees make it playable for all players.

The gently undulating terrain makes it an easy-walking parkland and provides interest to the golfer.
