La Moraleja (No.3)

La Moraleja (No.3)

This is the leading course at Spain's leading club, which was given the royal title in 2018 by the King of Spain.

There are four high-calibre courses at this Madrid super club, which has a distinguished history. They are all Jack Nicklaus designs, and this one - like No.4 - opened in April 2013.

A classic parkland course that can stretch over 7,500 yards off the back tees, La Moraleja's No.3 manages the elusive skill of being long and tough enough to test elite players but be able to also provide a pleasant round for higher handicappers.

That is down largely to wide fairways and greens that offer a large target - although that does put pressure on your lag putting.

There are three huge lakes within the course which are a factor on half of the holes while 68 bunkers and more than 1,200 trees provide additional hazards.

It is notable for its maintenance and is one of Spain's modern courses that has the respect of architecture connoisseurs.
