Desert Springs Overview | NCG Top 100 European Golf Resorts

The Indiana Course

The Indiana Course at Desert Springs has been inspired by the desert courses of the United States. Peter McEvoy was the man to design the Indiana, which from above shows the stunning contrast between the luscious green grass of the desert surroundings that it finds itself in.

Although the course is unique for the region, it was still constructed to USGA specifications, and it has gone on to become a part of Q School for the DP World Tour, as one of the early stages. Over 600,000 cacti and desert plants grow around the fairways to provide that desert look on the Indiana.

The course opens with a stunning par-5 which bends round to the right. The par-3 14th hole is the signature hole on the Indiana Course at Desert Springs. It is only 160 yards from the back tees, but the hole is played over a glorious blue lagoon. The closing hole then comes back up the same fairway as the 1st, before turning away from the opening tee box.

Desert Springs Golf Academy

Along with the stunning golf course, Desert Springs is also the home to a Golf Academy, one which both DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour use frequently.

There is a 20-bay driving range with astroturf mats, as well as a 2000 square metre grass practice area. Target greens and both fairway and greenside bunkers are also available to practise in. The Desert Springs Golf Academy’s short game area is home to two putting greens and a chipping area as well.

Two Huxley all-weather practice areas and a GASP studio allow the team of qualified professionals at the Desert Springs Golf Academy to help golfers of all ages and abilities. The Gasp Studio is one of the most advanced video teaching systems in the world.

Apartments, Townhouses & Villas

Desert Springs is quite unique compared to the majority of golfing resorts in that there is not a hotel on site. Instead, the accommodation is in the form of apartments, townhouses and villas, but there is something for everyone.

All the apartments come in a series of buildings, known as Las Sierras. Each apartment comes with its own covered terrace or balcony, and designed stylishly and in a contemporary fashion. Apartments at Las Sierras have a communal swimming pool, as do the townhouses. The townhouses are available in both two- and three-bedroom options.

Desert Springs also then has a wide range of villas for guests and families to choose from. All villas at Desert Springs are three- and four-bedroom buildings, all set in tranquil gardens to wander around during the daytime.
