Heythrop Park | NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts

Heythrop Park has recently reopened as an adults-only Warner Leisure resort following a large investment from the company. The resort now has incredible facilities, including an 18-hole golf course, a beautiful hotel located inside the Manor House, gastronomic choices, and a great spa & wellness facility.

The Bainbridge Course is the 18-hole layout at Heythrop Park, one that Tom Mackenzie (of Mackenzie & Ebert fame) helped to redesign in 2009. The course now winds its way around the Manor House of Heythrop Park, with water hazards featuring on several holes. There are tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and plenty more to keep you thinking throughout a round.

The Manor House plays host to the accommodation options at Heythrop Park, with a range of room and suite options. Cosy and Standard Rooms offer the classic style of room, while the Deluxe and Superior Rooms are more exquisite. The Mansion Rooms are brand new at The Manor House, with the 16 rooms all be individually designed. There is also a selection of Superior Suites on offer for those that want the utmost luxury possible during their stay at Heythrop Park.

Looking to relax after a round on the Bainbridge Course? The spa & wellness facility at Heythrop offers a swimming pool, sauna, and steam room, along with a relaxation room and the opportunity to enjoy a massage or treatment. Following that, there are three great restaurants that you can dine at, including the buffet-style Market Kitchen.

Heythrop Park Overview | NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts

The Bainbridge Course

Heythrop Park is home to the Bainbridge Course, a Par 72 championship course that was redesigned by Tom Mackenzie (of Mackenzie & Ebert) in 2009. The 18-hole layout occupies around 440 acres around the Grade-II listed manor, with lakes, streams, and bunkers all in the right places to catch you out.

The course measures more than 7,000 yards from the black tees, but there are five teeing options to ensure that golfers of all abilities can enjoy their walk around the Bainbridge Course at Heythrop Park.

The 5th and 6th are where water hazards first come into play. 5 sees a small ditch run across the fairway, making you decide whether to go over or lay up short of it, while 6 sees you tee off over the water, which then hugs the left side of the hole. After crossing the water, the 7th runs parallel to the hazard, while the 8th is the hardest hole on the front nine. It is a dog-leg right measuring more than 420 yards from the back tees. A par is a very good score on 8.

The closing hole at Heythrop is the longest by far, measuring almost 600 yards from the tips. There is no danger on the 18th, with no bunkers or water to watch out for. The length, and tree-lined fairways are the only thing that can really get in your mind, along with the manor as the glorious backdrop for the closing hole on the Bainbridge Course.

The Manor House

The accommodation at Heythrop Park comes in the form of the Manor House. Full of its original features, the recent refurbishment thanks to the Warner Leisure purchase has brought the hotel towards the very top. Rooms are comfortable and elegant, and most offer splendid views out over the estate. The Mansion Rooms are brand new at the Manor House, with these 16 rooms being in the centre of the historic building.

The Cosy Rooms are suited to those single travellers to Heythrop Park, with the Standard Rooms offering a double bed. Deluxe Rooms, Superior Rooms, and Superior Suites all add another layer of luxury to a stay at Heythrop Park.

Brasserie32 is the leading gastronomic option at Heythrop Park, and presents a fine dining experience for its guests. The Travelling Duke is the gastropub with typical British pub food on offer, while there is a buffet style service at the Market Kitchen.

Spa & Wellness

There is a spa and wellness facility at Heythrop Park, which is the perfect place for guests to relax and unwind. The facility features a 20-metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room, thermal suite, and a relaxation room. Guests can also try out yoga, meditation, and fitness classes during their stay.

Luxury skincare brand Temple Spa has partnered up with the facility and provides face and body treatments for both men and women. Facial treatments, mud wraps and foot rituals are all available, while guests can also treat themselves to a makeover or both manicures and pedicures at the grooming station.
