Foxhills is one of the best English venues on the NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts list, and it just 30 miles from the city centre of London. The venue plays host to three golf courses – the Longcross, Bernard Hunt and the Manor – along with excellent practice facilities.   

 

There are 45 holes of golf available to members and guests at Foxhills. The Longcross and the Bernard Hunt Courses are the two 18-hole offerings, with the pair culminating in the double green in front of the clubhouse that sees the last hole on each course join. There is also the Manor Course, a short par 3 course that has nine holes, perfect for beginners first learning the game. Foxhills also has great practice facilities, with a covered driving range and a floodlit short game area with practice bunkers and synthetic chipping areas. 

 

The Foxhills Hotel provides accommodation at the resort, with 66 rooms on offer. Each room is individually styled and provides a lovely place to stay. Foxhills is one of several venues on the NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts to be blessed with multiple courses. Guests who travel to Foxhills have the option of playing two 18-hole courses – the Longcross and the Bernard Hunt – along with the 9-hole par 3 Manor Course.  

 

One of the oddities about Foxhills is the double green in front of the clubhouse. Plenty of courses have double greens, like the Old Course at St Andrews or the Majlis at Emirates GC. They are part of the same course, though. Compare that to Foxhills, where the Longcross and Bernard Hunt Courses meet at the clubhouse, with one green for both 18th holes. 

 

Longcross Course 

The Longcross Course features tree-lined fairways, bunkers in all the right (or wrong!) places, and a true inland feel. The Par 72 layout is a tricky one if you are not the straightest of hitters, as those missing the fairways will find plenty of tree trouble.  

 

The Longcross opens with a tricky par 4, teeing off away from the clubhouse through a funnel of trees. The closing stretch then has some gems as well. The new 16th hole on the Longcross has become the course’s signature hole. The new par 3 now plays with a lake front right of the green, and a bunker back left, making it necessary to find the green. The closing hole then plays uphill back to the clubhouse, and that double green with the Bernard Hunt.  

 

Bernard Hunt Course 

The Bernard Hunt Course is the longer of the two courses at Foxhills, by around 100 yards. However, the 18-hole layout – which is named after 10-time Ryder Cup star, and former head professional at Foxhills, Bernard Hunt – is a Par 73, making it slightly easier than the Longcross.  

 

Much like the Longcross, the fairways are narrow and there are plenty of trees for errant drives to get caught up in. There are five par 5s on the Bernard Hunt, with three of those coming in a five-hole spell on the front nine – at 3, 5 and 7. All three provide birdie opportunities, with the 7th turning left twice, first from the drive to the second shot, and then from the second shot to the green. If you do make shots up on those three par 5s, then there is every chance you will give them back on the long par 3 4th and the lengthy par 4 6th. 

 

Manor Course 

The Manor Course is a short par 3 course that was designed by Bernard Hunt and lies in front of the Victorian clubhouse at Foxhills. Holes range from 70 to 160 yards and provide different challenges, with trees and bunkers in play.  

The Foxhills Hotel is certainly not the largest you will find on the NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts list. It only has 66 rooms and suites, but each of those has been individually designed and furnished and provides a luxurious place to rest your head during a stay at the Surrey resort. 

 

The Standard Rooms can come as a single, double, or twin room, and are traditionally furnished to provide a nice ambience. The Executive and Executive Garden Rooms are the next level up before you get into the Suites category. There are Junior Suites, Suites, Family Suites, and Deluxe Suites, with the latter being the top of the tree when it comes to accommodation at Foxhills. Guests staying in the Deluxe Suites receive VIP treatment including free champagne on arrival. 

 

There are plenty of options when it comes to food and drink at Foxhills. The Fox Dining Rooms are in the heart of the manor house, while Flo’s provides a Middle Eastern and Persian vibe and flavour. Nineteen is the clubhouse offering, and the perfect place for golfers to eat and relax following a round on either course.  

Golf is just one of several activities that guests at Foxhills can enjoy. In terms of sports, Foxhills has its own rackets section. There are nine tennis courts, along with both Padel and pickleball for outdoor racket sports, while table tennis can also be enjoyed indoors. The resort has five swimming pools in total, while there is also amble opportunity for walks, cycling, and more. 

 

Foxhills also provides activities for children and young families. There are scavenger hunts, crafts, games, sports and more to keep the kids involved and excited. There is also a creche for the youngest of visitors while the adults enjoy themselves.  

 

In terms of relaxation, the HealthSpa at Foxhills is the perfect place for guests. The HealthSpa holds two of those five swimming pools at the resort (one indoor and one outdoor), along with a hydropool, steam room and two saunas. There is also an outdoor hot tub, while guests also can enjoy a massage or treatment to truly unwind. 

Where is Foxhills?  
Foxhills is one of several venues on the NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts to be in and around England’s capital city. It sits just outside the M25, and only a couple of miles from where the M25 and M3 intersect. Chertsey is the nearest town, while the city centre of London is only 30 miles to the northeast. 

What is the nearest airport and station to Foxhills?  
Chertsey is also the nearest train station to Foxhills, sitting around three miles to the east of the golf resort. Visitors can get to Chertsey Station from London Waterloo within an hour, with the resort then a further ten minutes away by car.  

 

The busiest airport in the country – London Heathrow Airport – is also the closest international airport to Foxhills. It is less than 15 miles to the north of Foxhills and serviced over 60 million passengers in 2022 alone. It is a hub for both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, with flights from both these airlines and more to various European and worldwide destinations. 

What golf facilities does Foxhills offer?  
Along with the 45 holes that Foxhills has on site, the resort also has a floodlit driving range that is open every day. There are 16 bays on the range, all covered to allow practice in all conditions. There is also the ‘Practice Den’ - a 3,500 square-metre facility which has two bunkers and synthetic chipping areas, all around a practice green. 

 

The clubhouse and pro shop provide guests with everything that is required before and after a round, especially when it comes to Foxhills-branded apparel. Nineteen is the bar in the clubhouse where golfers can get snacks and food post round. 

Does Foxhills offer golf lessons?  
There is a team of five PGA qualified professionals on site at Foxhills to help guests and members get the best out of their games. Private coaching and group clinics are both on offer, with both half-hour and hour-long lessons available.
