Wychwood Park Overview | NCG Top 100s: GB&I Golf Resorts

A Championship Course

Wychwood Park’s golf course offers a great challenge for golfers of all abilities, with USGA-specification fairways and greens, water hazards to avoid and plenty of undulation. Wychwood Park has recently played host to the Regional Sections of DP World Tour Q-School, and the PGA EuroPro Tour.

The course plays more than 7,200 yards from the back tees, but in recent years, the venue has opted against colourising or genderising tees. Now, the tees are named after their Slope Rating - the 151s, the 148s, the 138s, and the 132s.

The course begins with the longest hole on the property. At 585 yards, it is a testing par 5, with plenty of sand traps lying in wait. After a couple of gentle holes, the 4th is the hardest hole at Wychwood Park. It is a long par 4 of more than 480 yards, and some may choose to play this as a par 5. The 6th is a downhill par 3 that is more than 220 yards on the card. There is a stream that runs in front of the green, making that 200+ all carry to find the putting surface.

9 features a large water hazard on the right of the fairway, ahead of a tough back nine. 11 is the shortest hole on the course, with the 12th being a long par 5. Three of the next four holes are long par 4s, all of which are more than 430 yards from the back tees. Get through those, and you get to the penultimate hole. 17 is a 215-yard par 3 that plays over water to a shallow green, before the course ends with a long par 5. The closing hole is a dog-leg right with a bunker right in the middle of the fairway. Greenside, there are four more bunkers to catch anything astray, but longer hitters might fancy their chances of making the 18th green in two.
