There has been a golf course at Casterton for almost fifty years. Since January 1992 the course has been privately owned and run and has been radically improved and extended. There are new greens and tees and the course has been developed and is maintained to a very high standard. As the course is built on limestone rock, drainage is good so the course does not need to close in bad weather. It is a nine hole course set in undulating parkland with panoramic views over the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, the north Lancashire coast and Barbon and Casterton Fells. The course provides a challenge for all golfing abilities. Visitors are always made welcome although booking a tee time is advisable, especially at weekends.
