Course Information

This is where Sky Sports commentator Ewen Murray learnt the game as his father was the professional there for many years.

It is different from the course he knew back then, though, because they have just built a new clubhouse and rerouted the course slightly to accommodate it.

Baberton sits on undulating terrain with fine views of the Pentland Hills to the south, the Ochil Hills and Forth Bridges to the north, and Edinburgh Castle.

It is just over 6,000 yards to a par of 70 and begins as it means to go on with an inviting opening par 4 of 276 yards.

There are two par 5s back to back at the 15th and 16th – with the latter much the friendlier at well under 500 yards.

Five par 3s offer a nice variation in length, with 101 yards between the longest and shortest.

The club dates back to the 1890s and had previous courses by Willie Park and Ben Sayers before James Braid was given additional land to remodel their final  course.
