Aloha is revered in Spain because of its designer, Javier Arana – regarded as the country’s greatest architects.

Surrounded by neat, whitewashed residences, this is a course of great variety laid out on interesting and often acutely undulating terrain.

The 1st is called Miguel Angel Jimenez after the local boy made good. It's a rolling par 5 with a tiered green complete with run offs at the front.

It begins a nice first section with La Concha, the area’s handsome mountain, often towering behind as a backdrop, not least on the 9th, which sits next to a cool little halfway house.

Aloha can be narrow in places though, such as on the 10th, which is little more than 25 yards wide with bunkers left and trees right. The 10th green also has lots of movement in it, with a tier to the right and hollow to left.

The next is SI5 despite being just over 300 yards by virtue of it turning right to left and acutely uphill for an approach that will add two clubs to your selection.

What goes up must come down, so on the 12th you drive to the brow of the hill then hit a really beautiful downhill shot to an angled green with a slender front section and guarded by water. Pretty, but not easy.

The 15th might be even better, a par 4 of 330 yards that turns left to right between mature trees that for once block out all villas. There is a bunker on the far left corner but strong players can bomb it over the tall trees on the dog-leg – but it does bring in the residences on the right, so you have to be careful. Then it's a pretty approach on a fine hole.

The next is another sweeping hole to a tiered green with a big shelf on left side. It is followed by a par 3 with bunkers short left and right of the green, with a small entry to the slender-fronted, angled putting surface.

The climax has water on the left after a pleasing downhill drive then rises steeply to a well bunkered green – in fact all you can see is sand.
