Galvin Green Austin jacket review – First impressions

This is another very interesting piece of kit from Galvin which aims to give golfers a premium jacket which can be worn on and off the course.

It’s an area where we’ve seen Galvin invest more in recent years which is a move to the benefit of golfers.

When spending a decent amount of money on a jacket, why wouldn’t you want to get a lot of wear out of it.

I’d say out of all the products Galvin introduced in their 2018 Part 2 collection this is the one which really hits that sweetspot.

It’s very stylish and fashionable, has a couple of decent sized front pockets and is available in four different colours.

And it will certainly keep you warm and dry whether out on the golf course our out for a walk with the family on a chilly morning.

Galvin Green Austin jacket review – The technology

I probably haven’t given this jacket its dues from a technology point of view.

Just because it looks great and will get plenty of use off the course, doesn’t mean it isn’t loaded with technology to do a fantastic job on the course.

This is still a Gore-Tex waterproof jacket with two-layer stretch fabric to offer maximum breathability.

The Gore-Tex membrane contains over 1.4 billion microscopic pores per square cm.

These pores are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, but 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule, which makes the membrane completely waterproof from the outside, while allowing moisture to escape from the inside.

It has a mesh lining for that added warmth and comfort.

As well as four colours, it’s available in sizes from small to 3XL.

Galvin Green Austin jacket review – The results

This was a product I simply didn’t want to take off.

It offers all the fantastic waterproof protection we’ve come from Galvin products but just has that added bit of warmth and style.

Despite that, it’s still incredibly light and doesn’t hamper the golf swing at all.

Galvin Green Austin jacket review – NCG verdict

As soon as you put this jacket on you feel like you’ve got a highly premium piece of technical golf gear on.

But you’ll also be getting comments from your playing partners on how good you look.
