Galvin Green Ashton review: First Impressions

At first glance, this looks so different from anything I’ve seen before from Galvin Green but I liked that they were trying something new. It obviously appeared very lightweight so I was interested to put it through its paces.

Galvin Green Ashton review: The Technology

The Ashton waterproof jacket is designed to be super lightweight, weighing in at just 174 grams half the weight of a traditional waterproof jacket.

It also features shakedry technology. This means the Gore-Tex membrane is placed on the outside of the jacket without any face fabric, ensuring water simply beads up and rolls off the surface reducing chilling effect and making drying time faster.

The jacket is also windproof and the functional backer textile provides greater comfort next to the skin. The external ultra-quiet membrane eliminates any unwanted friction during the swing.

The jacket comes in Ash Grey with a silver zipper.

Galvin Green Ashton review: NCG Verdict

Hands down the lightest jacket I’ve ever worn on the golf course. And despite the weight, it is Gore-Tex and therefore, completely waterproof. The water actually sits on top of the jacket so dried very quickly and I liked how little space it took up in my golf bag.

Galvin Green Ashton review

I tested this in large and I didn’t have to make any adjustments to it which is nice. Adjustments to the waist are possible on both sides though. As mentioned, the style is unique but it looks great when on and the performance is phenomenal. It is so lightweight it genuinely felt like I wasn’t wearing a jacket at all.
