Nestled in 220 acres of beautiful rolling Northamptonshire countryside and located just 20 mins away from the M40 and M1 lies Hellidon Lakes Golf & Spa Hotel.
This is one of the most spectacular and scenic golf venues in the Midlands. From the moment you drive through the entrance you become part of a private nature reserve all enhanced by the tranquil surroundings and breathtaking views.
The 27 hole venue has three beautifully designed loops of nine to test all levels of golfer to the full, yet enabling those of modest ability to enjoy and tune their game.
Many holes feature water hazards, invariably offering the choice of challenging carries over water, or safer routes skirting the numerous lakes. Course management is at a premium.
After your round, you can relax in the Terrace Bar and enjoy panoramic views of the golf course and the surrounding countryside.
The Terrace Bar has an indoor and outdoor area and provides an ideal vantage point to watch golfers playing the signature 18th hole; a spectacular par 3 over the largest lake on the course.
Complimenting the golf is Hellidon Lakes Golf and Spa Hotel, which has all the facilities that you would associate with a four-star Q Hotel, including the Lakes restaurant, a gymnasium, steam room and Jacuzzi, swimming pool and outdoor tennis court. There is even the novelty of a ten-pin bowling alley.
Hellidon Lakes Golf Club has a vast array of off-course extras including a large practice area, buggies for hire, a fully stocked pro-shop and PGA standard tuition to enjoy.
The 27 holes comprise three nines, which can be combined into a variety of 18-hole courses. The Hellidon followed by The Lakes is the Championship course and the most challenging combination. This permutation has hosted several PGA Professional events. The Valley course is a little flatter and although demanding in its own right, offers a few more scoring opportunities to the average golfer.
This course begins with a remarkable risk-and-reward drivable par 4 with out of bounds lurking on the right hand side. With the first two holes safely negotiated you reach the sweeping par-4 3rd with its undulating fairway, well positioned bunkers and delicate green. With the tree lined, rolling fairways and tricky dog legs this course is a test for all.
This nine has some of the most stunning holes you’ll ever play in England. The 11th is a sweeping par 5 down through the trees to a green with a lake as a back drop. The 14th has two ponds down the left hand side and a small pond catching the bigger hitters off the tee. This nine is best known for the stunning par 3 finishing hole over the “Hellidon Lake”. Each hole has its own challenge and unique character.
Although the newest of the three nines (opened 2000) and the shortest, the Valley has its own set of unique challenges. The par-3 2nd is played from an elevated tee to a tight green, shadowed by a tall oak on the left and a sneaky pond on the right. Accuracy is paramount. There are only a few bunkers, but don’t be fooled into thinking this will be a pushover, as water comes into play on five holes.
