Ganstead Park Golf Club

East Yorkshire

  • Par 72
  • 6444 Yds

Since its opening in 1976, Ganstead Park has grown to become one of the most challenging and appealing venues in East Yorkshire.

The fairways are easy to walk and are defined by mature trees and grassy mounds, while sculptured lakes also come into play off the tee.

Nowhere is this more the case than on the signature par-3 4th. The 150-yard hole sees you have to fly a lake to stand any chance of escaping with par.

If you are feeling brave you can get your round off to a flyer; the 516-yard par-5 1st offers an early chance to get under par, before the 338-yard 2nd also provides the possibility of a short pitch for a birdie from a good drive.

The short 298-yard par-4 3rd also offers a risk-reward decision to complete a trio of easier opening holes.

On the whole, the greens themselves are generously sized, but do slope – presenting the golfer with a few questions as they navigate the par-72 layout.

Choose to hit at the green and you must take on a group of trees, but the reward is a simple two-putt birdie.

The stretch around the turn proves more difficult, with the long 9th and 12th the main problems.

The par-5 13th is another of Ganstead’s stand-out holes, the longest hole on the course at 542-yards can be a very rewarding par.

On the whole, the greens themselves are generously sized, but do slope – presenting the golfer with a few questions as they navigate the par-72 layout.

Ganstead Park is situated only a few miles to the east of the bustling City of Hull. The course is not far from the historic town of Beverley and no more than 10 miles to the endless beaches of the Yorkshire coast.
