Flamborough Head Golf Club

East Yorkshire

  • Par 71
  • 6185 Yds

Founded in 1931 six miles east of Bridlington, Flamborough Head is known as the “friendliest golf club on the coast”.

The club welcomes visitors and societies all year round, even at weekends, and offers a range of affordable green fees that make this a must-visit venue.

A weekday round can be had for just £23, while guests can play with a member for just £10. Juniors are also welcome and can play for £5 on any day of the year.

While not the longest by modern standards, the 6,198-yard clifftop links layout features undulating terrain and requires more than just a long drive.

The club welcomes visitors and societies all year round, even at weekends, and offers a range of affordable green fees that make this a must-visit venue.

This becomes evident as early as the par-four fourth, where you will require two of your best hits to reach the green in regulation. To make matters trickier, the putting surface is set on two levels and features a hollow at the back and a slope at the front which will punish any short approach shots.

The toughest hole on the layout is the stroke index one 14th. Known as “Lighthouse View”, the hole features a dogleg fairway and an out of bounds stretch down the left, while the club has recently added a new fairway bunker to bring new danger for those trying to cut the corner.

The approach shot is often blind, while the green is protected by bunkers to the front and rough to the back.

Away from the course, the club boasts a well-stocked pro shop and offers lessons to both adults and juniors starting from just £5.

The club lies close the A165 and is easily accessible from the north or the south.
