Founded in 1909, Brampton Golf Club is a fantastic heathland layout in north Cumbria and is widely acknowledged as one of the country’s best kept golfing secrets.

The course has been described as the “Jewel of Cumbria” and a “mini Gleneagles” and featured in Golf Monthly’s list of 100 hidden gems in 2011.

It is easy to see why the course is rated so highly.

Measuring 6,407 yards off the competition tees, James Braid’s undulating par-72 design features superb drainage, making it playable all year round.

While there are many fantastic holes at Brampton, two in particular stand out.

The course has been described as the “Jewel of Cumbria” and a “mini Gleneagles” and featured in Golf Monthly’s list of 100 hidden gems in 2011.

Known as “Curlew’s Nest”, the 422-yard par-four 3rd features tree-lined fairways and a pair of greenside bunkers. Making par on this stroke index one hole should be considered a success.

The 462-yard par-four 11th is a similarly testing hole. Appropriately named “Round the Bend”, it features a sharp dogleg and a downhill approach to the putting surface. To make matters trickier, the green is protected by a strategically-placed bunker.

Golf aside, the venue offers a large clubhouse and private function room that make this the perfect location for a corporate golfing event. Ample parking is available on-site.

The club also boasts a well-stocked pro shop where customers can expect individual attention seven days a week from an experienced team of staff.

The town of Brampton is situated roughly nine miles east of Carlisle and is easily accessible from the A69.
