Top 5 golf balls used at The Open – can you guess which make the list?
Which golf balls claimed top 5 finishes at the The Open Championship? Paul Miller kept track so you don’t have to
What an Open Championship Royal Troon served up!
Six under led after day one and three days later, after the players had to battle the wind and rain, three shots better would have been enough to lift the famous Claret Jug and be crowned champion golfer of the year.
Xander Schauffele put his foot down on the back nine of the final round and left all the chasers in his wake. He can now put the Claret Jug next to the Wanamaker Trophy in his trophy cabinet – joining an illustrious group of players who have won The Open and another major in the same year.
Once again Titleist golf balls featured strongly amongst the top 5 players but Xander Schauffele ensured Callaway finished top of the pile – playing the Callaway Chrome Tour golf ball.
Top 5 Golf Balls Used At the The Open Championship
1) Xander Schauffele – Callaway Chrome Tour
As the NCG review points out, the Callaway Chrome Tour golf ball is leaps and bounds better than its predecessor.
The review also points out it performs great on the short shots around the green, something Xander Schauffele demonstrated in abundance during the week.
As well as the standard Callaway Chrome Tour golf ball there is the limited edition version produced specifically for the 2024 Open at Royal Troon available for purchase.

=2) Justin Rose – Titleist Pro V1 Left Dot
Justin Rose had a great week and his closing round 67 on another day might have just been enough to finish top of the pile.
The Titleist Pro V1 left dot ball that Justin uses is not currently available for purchase but you can read more about it on the Titleist website.

=2) Billy Horschel – Titleist Pro V1
Billy Horschel, with his West Ham United bag, led going into the final round, but had to match Xander Schauffele with a closing round 65 to lift the Claret Jug. With his final round of 68 this secured Billy a joint second spot.
Billy’s ball of choice is the Titleist Pro V1.

4) Thriston Lawrence – Titleist Pro V1
Thriston Lawrence shot up the leaderboard on Saturday after shooting a 65.
He briefly led The Open on Sunday after a good start but could not press on to challenge Xander Schauffele on the back nine. His closing round of 68 secured himself a creditable fourth spot.
Like Billy Horschel, Thriston’s ball of choice is the Titleist Pro V1.
5) Russell Henley – Titleist Pro V1x
Similar to Thriston Lawrence, a fine round of 66 on Saturday meant he was in joint second position come Saturday night. A final round 69 eventually secured him fifth position on his own.
Russell Henley’s ball of choice is also a Titleist but he opts for the Pro V1x version.
