Tee-ing Off in Style: The Shoes That Supported the Top 5 Golfers at The Open
Which shoes were worn by the top 5 finishers at the The Open Championship? Paul Miller kept track so you don’t have to
The Open Championship this year at Troon put to the test every aspect of the golfers equipment – from balls to umbrellas, waterproofs and shoes.
Xander Schauffele put his foot down on the back nine of the final round and left all the chasers in his wake. He can now put the Claret Jug next to the Wanamaker Trophy in his trophy cabinet – joining an illustrious group of players who have won The Open and another major in the same year.
But what shoes was Xander Schauffele in when putting his foot down and what other shoes featured amongst the top 5 goflers? All is revealed below.
Top 5 Golf Shoes Worn At the The Open Championship
1) Xander Schauffele – Adidas Tour360 24
I reviewed these shoes earlier in the year. As someone who normally steers clear of Adidas shoes due to their narrow fit I was pleasantly surprised with the comfort and performance of this model. As I stated in the review – A fantastic shoe that has made someone ignore Adidas shoes in the past to seriously consider making these the go to golf shoe for most of the year.

=2) Justin Rose – Nike Air Jordan Low 1 G
Justin Rose’s shoe of choice is the popular Nike Air Jordan 1 Low G.
Nike Air Jordan 1 Low Golf Shoes are an instant classic from the Air Jordan franchise, inspired by one of the most iconic sneakers of all time.

=2) Billy Horschel – FootJoy Traditions
Billy Horschel has found his footing on the course with FootJoy Tradition golf shoes – Read the NCG review for more info.
With their comfortable design and exceptional grip, the FootJoy Tradition shoes have become an essential part of Horschel’s winning formula.
Billy led going into the final round, but had to match Xander Schauffele with a closing round 65 to lift the Claret Jug. With his final round of 68 this secured Billy a joint second spot.

4) Thriston Lawrence – FootJoy Premiere Series Packard
Thriston Lawrence shot up the leaderboard on Saturday after shooting a 65.
He briefly led The Open on Sunday after a good start but could not press on to challenge Xander Schauffele on the back nine. His closing round of 68 secured himself a creditable fourth spot.
Like Billy Horschel, Thriston’s shoe of choice is Footjoy but he opts for the Premiere series Packard.

5) Russell Henley – FootJoy Tour Alpha
Similar to Thriston Lawrence, a fine round of 66 on Saturday meant he was in joint second position come Saturday night. A final round 69 eventually secured him fifth position on his own.
Russell Henley shoe of choice is also a FootJoy with his preferred model being the Tour Alpha
