All the Gear: Titleist 818 hybrids in play at Scottish OpenJuly 14, 2017 Golf Equipment
Missed any gear news over the past week? Equipment editor James Savage has you covered.
Every brand does things different when it comes to new product launches. Titleist have definitely placed a huge emphasis on their tour seeding process for the 818 hybrids and 718 irons.
Other companies like to tease…

We’ve seen the new AP1, AP2, AP3, CB, MB, and TMB irons being tested by Titleist staff players on the European and PGA Tours in recent weeks.
And now the 818 hybrids have been introduced. For what it’s worth these products are still under ‘embargo’ for the golfing media but we can notice some of the new technology.
It again looks like the H2 will be the more compact of the two clubs and should be the one favoured by tour players such at Peter Uilein seen getting fitted at Dondonald this week.
Back to the 718 irons and it looks like they have been going down well for one particular player who isn’t a Titleist staff player…

Stay up to date, here obviously, and on the Titleist website.
New Parallax range launched by Lynx
Back in the day, the Lynx Parallax irons were used to great effect by players such as Ernie Els and Fred Couples.
The company, now under UK ownership, have reinvented and resigned them for the club golfer who wants a top-performing club at a friendly price point.
There is also a new driver, fairway woods and hybrids to complete the new Parallax range.
The irons feature a wide sole and generous cavity back for forgiveness and easy launch.
A two-piece cast 460cc head has been used in the driver which is adjustable from 8.5˚ to 12.5˚and has a ‘Power Channel’ behind the face for more ball speed.
Similar technology features in the fairways and hybrids.
Irons: (5-PW) £339 steel, £389 graphite
Fairways: 3 (15˚) and 5 (19˚): £99
All the Gear: Titleist 818 hybrids in play at Scottish Open 3 (17˚) and 4 (20˚): £99
More details can be found on the Lynx website.
Outfits for The Open revealed
If you hadn’t noticed there’s a major on the horizon. So it’s time for another round of scripting. I think scripting is a word I’ll be putting in my Room 101 along with embargo and apparel.
They are words that people in real life don’t actually use.
Anyway, I’m excited about the Open so let’s take a look at the clothes and shoes some of the world’s best players will be wearing at Royal Birkdale.
Pay close attention to Rickie Fowler’s ‘untucked’ polo which is due to appear on Saturday (if he makes the cut).
Limited edition TaylorMade headcovers and tour bags
To celebrate The Open TaylorMade have launched a range of bags and headcovers inspired by England’s flag colours.
Apparently the tour bag, which Justin Rose et al will be using in Southport, draws inspiration from the intricate art deco patterns of Royal Birkdale’s famous clubhouse. It also has Union Jack lining.
There’s also stand bags and headcovers featured in the gallery below.
Tour bag: £339
Stand bag: £189
