All the Gear: We NEED custom Epic drivers and brushed copper Vokeys

A lot of time has been spent recently out on the course testing equipment which is fantastic news for a man in my position.
People think it’s just an excuse to get out and play a few holes during work hours but it’s simply not possible form any worthwhile opinion without going through the proper process.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s great fun and who wouldn’t want to get out and play as much as possible.
But we feel the end result is comprehensive reviews which leave no stone unturned. Our latest tests can be found in the review section of the website.
It has been a fairly quiet week for new releases but here’s what you may have missed…
Custom Epic drivers
Who wants a customised Callaway Epic driver? You may have seen pictures on social media about a new scheme offering the GBB Epic in a range of different colour options.
There’s eight colours to choose from which can be deployed in two different sections making up a total of 64 combinations.
We’re still waiting for confirmation whether this option is available to UK consumers but in the meantime, you can design your custom Epic driver on the Callaway website.

Titleist offer brushed copper Vokeys
Oh hello there you cheeky little things. My love for these new brushed copper SM6 Vokey wedges has already reached unhealthy levels.
It comes in 54˚, 56˚, 58˚ and 60˚ lofts with 8 degrees of bounce all in the ‘M’ grind which Bob Vokey himself stays stands for ‘my favourite’.
The brushed copper look features a light black oxide finish which should wear down to just the copper over time.

This finish will only be available at a select number of retailers from May 12.

In other news… Ping buy up five Nike patents
The fallout of Nike’s exit from the hardware game took another twist this week as Ping revealed they have bought five of the brand’s patents.
“We see this as an opportunity to add utility patents to our already significant intellectual property portfolio,” Ping President John K. Solheim said in a statement to the Phoenix Business Journal.
“Our team can use these patents, along with our existing intellectual property, to our competitive advantage, accelerating our ability to further technology that ultimately leads to higher performing, score-lowering golf equipment.”
Sounds like a reasonable idea to us John – makes sense to get in there before anyone else.
