Motocaddy reveal S5 Connect trolley with built-in GPS
The Motocaddy S5 Connect is the brand’s first trolley with a built-in GPS function.
NCG got a look at the new kit at a press briefing at the PGA Show in Orlando but we can now disclose all the details.
It’s an exciting move from Motocaddy and it’s another example of a brand embracing the technology available through mobile phones.

We’ve had something similar from Cobra with their Arccos GPS system linking to the grip of your driver.
Any golf clubs which seek to ban mobile phones are only banning golfers from getting more enjoyment out of the game.
So how does the Motocaddy S5 Connect work?
Using a free mobile GPS app, you connect your phone and the Motocaddy S5 together for detailed course information to be displayed on the trolley’s screen.
The app is free to download and then can be synced with the trolley using Bluetooth.
You can even download the course information and switch to ‘power save’ mode to preserve battery life and reduce data usage.
This means you can still get all the yardages to the front, back and middle of the green on your trolley but will just lose the fly-over function on your phone screen.
The Motocady S5 Connect screen can also receive notifications alerting the golfer of an incoming call, text, email or range of app alerts including WhatsApp and Facebook.
The phone can remain connected even when securely placed in the pocket of a golf bag or being charged by the trolley’s USB charging port.
The Motocaddy mobile phone app is available free to download on iOS and Android and features 36,000 courses worldwide which are accessible with overhead maps and detailed yardages, distance of the last shot and dedicated greenside information.
The ‘power save’ option changes the look of the app simply providing front, middle and back yardages as well as a round timer, the hole number, par of the hole and clock.
The trolley itself has similar features to the other S models with nine speed settings, a soft-touch ergonomic handle, streamlined battery tray, the super-fast Quikfold mechanism, low-profile, quick release wheels and compatibility with the Easilock bag-to-trolley connection system.
