From almost a standing start, Skechers are becoming a force in the golf shoe industry.
Colin Montgomerie, Matt Kuchar, Russell Knox and Brooke Henderson are among the players representing them on course and the footwear brand have big ambitions for their latest collection.
Monty, in particular, has spoken in glowing terms about the US giant’s products – declaring them to be the “most comfortable out there”.
Skechers have used some of the technology from their vastly growing running division in their new designs – promising out of the box comfort on the course.
The result are some exciting new additions to the GO GOLF collection.
Men’s
GO GOLF Pro 2/LX (RRP £129/£142)
Skechers’ most advanced golf shoe features 5GEN technology – described by the company as “a new next generation highly responsive cushioning foam used in the sole” – and the GO GOLF Pro 2 is a classic design.
Replaceable spikes and waterproof protection are complemented by a new dynamic traction plate. It is meant to give maximum grip along with a low profile. A quick release outsole aims to keep you stable on any terrain.
Available in black leather and blue trim, charcoal leather and navy trim or white and grey leather and blue trim. LX model available in charcoal leather and black trim or grey leather and grey trim.
GO GOLF Elite 2 (RRP £102)
Using the GO GOLF Pro 2 Upper, the Elite 2 has a spikeless comfort traction outsole. 5GEN foam brings comfort and stability while offering a “fresh and sleek look”. H2GO Shield Technology ensures full waterproofing.
Available in black leather and blue trim, grey leather and blue trim, navy leather and red trim, white and grey leather and blue trim or black leather and black trim.
GO GOLF Focus/Focus Collegiate (RRP £139/£139)
A new addition to the Skechers GO GOLF range, the Focus is hailed as the sleek lightweight stability option. Waterproof, and low to the ground, the shoe also offers the run-inspired, responsive, 5GEN cushioning.
Replaceable SoftSpikes and a “Dynamic Upper Fit” is said to add stability to the golf swing.
Focus available in white and black synthetic and red trim. Collegiate available in white and black synthetic and black trim or white and blue synthetic and blue trim.
GO GOLF Drive 2/LX (RRP £84/£92)
Casual comfort comes as standard in the GO GOLF Drive 2, which combines lightweight athletic materials with “advanced GOGA Mat Technology”. A Resalyte midsole insert and breathable wicking lining are other features of note.
The LX model differs in that it offers Skechers’ waterproof technology and the 5GEN cushioning, along with a GOGA Mat insole that helps to secure the foot and add stability when swinging.
Drive 2 available in white synthetic and navy trim. LX available in black leather and white trim, charcoal leather and navy trim or chocolate leather and chocolate trim.
GO GOLF Fairway (RRP £77)
The most run-inspired model of the GO GOLF 2017 collection, the GO GOLF Fairway could, at first, be mistaken for the kind of product you would wear to the gym.
But Skechers promise this styling will offer long-lasting comfort and the athletic materials are combined with the 5GEN cushioning, and other tech, that’s a feature of the rest of the range.
Available in black leather textile and white trim or white leather and black textile and ted trim.
Women’s
GO GOLF Birdie/Birdie Tropic/Birdie Tour (RRP £77, £77, £92)
Combining the science and materials used in the GO WALK, Skechers say the GO GOLF Birdie “delivers signature comfort with lightweight, responsive 5GEN technology”.
The spikeless shoe is available in the classic Birdie, Tropic, with floral print details, or a more premium classic design in the Birdie Tour.
