Played by NCG: Muirfield
Welcome to the first instalment of a new series of vlogs where we discuss courses recently #PlayedbyNCG in depth.
Hosted by courses expert NCG’s editor Dan Murphy, who has played more tracks than most of us have had hot dinners, we’ll be going behind the scenes up and down the British Isles – and beyond.
The aim is to give you our honest views of courses we have just visited.
We begin with a trip to Open Championship venue Muirfield, which professional golfist (and publisher) Tom Irwin has just visited for the first time.
Never a man to let an opportunity pass him by, Tom did things in style, staying at the famous Greywalls hotel, which overlooks Muirfield, and specifically the 10th tee.
But did the famous Muirfield lunch live up to its billing and how was the experience of playing a course he has seen on TV, visited during the Open Championship and seen analysed in Strokesavers?
Tom and Dan discuss whether the substantial green free represents value for money and also offer some tips on how to make the most of your visit.
Finally, at the end of another busy year, Tom shares his top-three golfing experiences of 2016. Will Muirfield make the cut?
