About Lee-Anne Pace
South African-born Lee-Anne Pace’s journey to the top of the women’s game has been anything but straightforward.
The 35-year-old pursued other sports as a youngster, including hockey, swimming and tennis.
She was encouraged to give golf a go at the age of 18 by her dad after a professional saw her hitting some balls outside of a pub.
She attended Murray State University in Kentucky, USA, as a +2 handicapper.
She was later recruited by Tulsa University and ended up finishing in the top 20 in America in her final year.
A career in golf beckoned for talented Pace and she turned pro in 2005.
She qualified for the Ladies European Tour for 2008 via qualifying school.
In 2010, Pace topped the European Order of Merit after bagging five titles that year.
She topped the Henderson Money List that same year and in doing so she became the first ever South African in LET history to do so.
She was voted as the overwhelming winner of the 2010 Players’ Player of the Year on the LET.
Pace netted over one million euros in 2013 on her way to claiming three titles.
The current world No 35 clinched her ninth career title in 2014 when she won the South African Women’s Open.
She made the cut 19 times out of 24 events last year as well as carding a career-low 65 in the third round of the Evian Championship.
