Video: Building Ping G irons at the Gainsborough factory
Ever wondered how the Ping G irons are produced? How are they made and built once someone places an order or has a custom fitting?

Well we went behind the scenes with Mike Lea at the Ping Factory HQ in Gainsborough to see for ourselves.
Our publisher Tom Irwin had gone through a fitting for some Ping G irons but rather than waiting for them to be sent, we went down into the factory to see them being made.
There are 100 full time staff working Monday to Friday at the factory and attention is paid to every detail.
All the lofts and lie angles are checked rigorously with the lie angle dots painted on by hand.
Computer technology is used to measure that all the lofts and lie angles are pinpoint accurate.
The factory in Gainsborough is one of three in the world where Ping golf clubs are made with the others in Arizona and Tokyo.
Key features of the Ping G irons
- Revolutionary COR-Eye Technology provides four times the amount of face flexing for consistently faster ball speeds across the hotter face.
- A specialized heat treatment creates Hyper 17-4 stainless steel, allowing for thinner, faster faces to gain distance.
- Connecting the Custom Tuning Port to the sole creates a deeper CG that helps elevate the launch angle while increasing MOI for greater accuracy
