UPS launches #bags4birdies campaign
IF you didn’t have enough reason to cheer on Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen at The Masters, here’s another.
For every birdie or better the pair make at Augusta National during the tournament, juniors will benefit from new golf clubs.
#bags4birdies is a programme launched by UPS to support ‘golf’s future talent’.
Partnered with PING, who are developing the Ping Moxie G junior clubs and other gear for youngsters, the logistics giant will donate a set of clubs each time Westwood and Oosthuizen shine in a round during the year’s four Major championships.
UPS will work closely with golf’s governing bodies across the globe to select recipients in eight international markets – North America, UK, Germany, Costa Rica, China, South Africa, Vietnam and Japan.
“Just as UPS is committed to excellence in growing businesses worldwide, we are now applying the same principle to supporting the next generation of champions with the #bags4birdies program,” said Ron Rogowski, UPS vice president of brand and sponsorships.
“We hope this will give the worthy recipients a head start on their own journey to excellence.”
Andrew Weir, chairman of S.A. Kids Golf, added: “The support of UPS and PING via the #bags4birdies program will enable more children to learn and play the game, this will be invaluable to the future of South African golf.
“This partnership is important as it will create a unique opportunity and access to the game, we are extremely grateful for this support.”
