Video: Good warm-up and fitness drills for golf
Golf requires us to move the body in many unusual ways.
When we play golf we’re asking muscles and joints to move in a way that they are not used to.
As Nick Ward, England Golf strength and conditioning coach, explains, a good warm-up for golf is not just about stretching, it is about very much about joint movement.

One common thing many golfers will do before playing golf is stretch the hamstrings because the hamstrings feel tight.
However, the hamstrings are often tight because they are doing all of the work. The hips and the glutes are not doing their fair share.
So warm-ups which activate the glutes and get the hips moving and rotating are far more useful for golf rather than stretching the hamstrings.
