Social Spotlight: A zip-line ride with Rory & a robot hole-in-one
Video of the Week: Robot hits ace, is officially better than you at golf
In the opening round of the 2016 Waste Management Phoenix Open, history was made.
A robot named LDRIC (as in ’Eldrick’ as in Tiger Woods) aced a beauty of a shot on the par-3 16th at TPC Scottsdale, taking with it the title of the first-ever robot hole-in-one.
The crowd showered the green in beer and celebrated as if the robot was a real person whom they all like. What’s even more remarkable is that the shot was only the fifth it has ever hit.
First the return of Robot Wars, now this? Has nobody watched The Terminator?
Stunt of the Week: Thrill-seeking McIlroy’s zip-line ride in Dubai
Rory McIlroy is no stranger to PR stunts. You could even suggest that he loves doing them, such is the way he embraces ridiculous tasks like dancing awkwardly with locals in Abu Dhabi, colliding with Jordan Spieth on a GolfBoard and hitting balls into the Thames with Boris Johnson.
His latest endeavour required him to hurtle down a 1,800 foot long zip-line at 50 miles an hour, 300 feet above downtown Dubai.
“See you on the other side!” he yells, the other side presumably being a parachute jump off a cliff face with Bear Grylls.
Swing of the Week: Jacksonville student’s high-heeled tee shot
Having a nice swing and a winning Instagram account is all the rage right now. Jacksonville University student Jordan Wolf has both of these things, along with an odd choice of golfing footwear.
With 15k Instagram followers it looks like it’s not just us who are fans of her driving (and unconventional attire).
