Equipment: Oosthuizen extends Ping deal

The South African has committed long term to Ping

Former Open winner, Louis Oosthuizen has agreed a multi-year agreement with golf equipment manufacturer Ping, to continue playing their clubs and wearing the brands apparel.

The 32 year-old South African pens the deal off the back of one of his best seasons since turning professional, with six top-10s and two tied second finishes at the Open and  the U.S. Open, the latter of which featured a back-nine charge in 29 strokes on Sunday.

An impressive season has seen Oosthuizen earn over $3 million in prize money this season and his rise to 12th in the world is made all the more impressive when considering he was ranked 45th at the end of 2014.
Louis has a beautiful, fluid swing we’d all love to have; it is widely regarded as one of the best on tour
“Louis has a beautiful, fluid swing we’d all love to have; it is widely regarded as one of the best on tour,” Solheim said. “He has been among golf’s top players for several years and we’re proud to continue our long-standing relationship with someone who represents Ping so well across the world”.

As part of the agreement, Oosthuizen will continue to wear branded merchandise including Ping hat, staff bag and play with an entire Ping set-up from driver through to putter.

The length of the agreement has yet to be disclosed.

Oosthuizen will be looking to build on his current total of 12 career wins worldwide next season.

“I’ve used Ping equipment since I was a teenager and from the time I started playing their clubs, I knew they were the best fit for my game,” Oosthuizen said.

“I believe that now more than ever with the success I’ve had on the European and PGA Tours.

“I’m excited to see what comes next”.
