Big Spender of the Week
Dustin Johnson spent a cool $4.95 million on a lavish family home in Palm Beach Florida this week, after a year in which he has earned a reported $5.2 million.
DJ is currently 7th in the world rankings following a PGA Tour win at the WGC-Cadillac Championship and finishing runner-up at the US Open. He also posted Top 10 finishes in both the Masters and the PGA Championship.
His new pad comes complete with its own private island along with three ocean-view balconies, a swimming pool with waterfall and grotto, five bedrooms and six bathrooms.
Sounds like plenty of space for fiancée Paulina Gretzky to pose for an Instagram photo…
Quote of the (Jason) Day
Jason Day came out with an absolute gem in his press conference at the TOUR Championship. When asked to describe his year, he replied: “It’s like Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy had a baby – and I was it.”
Supreme confidence from the new World No. 1, perhaps justifiably given his hot streak in the past few months.
Day has now matched Tiger Woods and VJ Singh’s record of five wins in one PGA Tour season. Is it enough to contend with Spieth for the Player of the Year gong?
Another highlight from the Australian came when asked about the possible $10 million FedEx Cup prize. What would he do with all the cash? “I might buy a few more v-necks from Target.”
What a guy.
